MEMBERS ONLY Insiders Series: First Place Tour and Conversation with Denise Resnik
For more than 20 years, Denise Resnik, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of First Place AZ, dreamed of a place her son Matt and others with autism could live as adults. After traveling far and wide in search of a model, she realized they were looking for something that didn’t exist….so they would have to create it…and First Place-Phoenix was born.
First Place-Phoenix is the culmination of nearly two decades of dedicated research, travel and ideation. Envisioned as a residential community development that aspires to catalyze international models, First Place offers supportive housing and a residential transition program for individuals with autism and for other neuro-diverse populations, as well as sites for education, training and creative inspiration.
An extraordinary project, First Place has now become nationally recognized as a unique concept that communities throughout the country are seeking to emulate. An idea that had its roots in a ULI AzTAP has become a national model demonstrating the powerful results of partnership, innovation, and a passion for strengthening the fabric of our community.
ULI Arizona is proud to have been a participant in this unparalleled endeavor which introduced housing providers, architects, developers, planners, public officials, and others involved in the residential development industry to conditions and aspirations of adults with ASDs [Autism Spectrum Disorder] that demand a new approach to how we provide, design and develop homes in which they live.
Join ULI Arizona for this special Members Only Tour of First Place and Conversation with Denise Resnik. Space is limited so please register early!
