    The Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI) is pleased to host a summer virtual speaker series, featuring powerhouse female leaders who are shaping the land use and real estate industry. Our speakers will talk about their career journeys and share experiences that helped them grow as leaders and how they built strength and resiliency

     KEYNOTE SPEAKER
     
    Rosa T. Sheng, FAIA is a Principal at SmithGroup, Studio Leader of Higher Education and Director of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion. She was AIA San Francisco President in 2018 and Founding Chair of Equity by Design. As a licensed architect with 24 years of experience in architecture and design, Rosa has led a variety of award-winning and internationally acclaimed projects from the aesthetically minimal, highly technical development of the glass structures for Apple’s original high-profile retail stores, to the innovative and sustainable projects for Institutions of higher learning such as the LEED NC Gold–certified Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business at Mills College in Oakland, California. Rosa’s thought leadership and activism has been recognized for catalyzing a national movement for equitable practice in Architecture marked by three pivotal surveys and public speaking outreach both nationally and abroad including TEDxPhiladelphia, Cannes Lions Festival, Harvard, Stanford and KQED/NPR. In 2019 Rosa was recognized by Metropolis Game Changer for her work advancing equitable practice in the built environment.

    Kenzy Architects

    Sara Yehia founded her own firm Kenzy Architects in 2018 in Phoenix, AZ. She studied architecture at the school of Fine Arts in Cairo, Egypt where she is originally from and earned a Master of Architecture at Arizona State University. Sara is a registered architect in Egypt and Arizona and has practiced in both. She designed over a million square feet of buildings, from corporate office and higher education to retail, restaurants, residential and industrial. Sara is currently a Faculty Associate at the Arizona State University, Teaching Architectural Design Studio. She is also active in several professional organizations and serves on several committees, including the Women’s Leadership Initiative committee for ULI. Sara’s power as an architect comes for her exceptional ability to connect and engage with people, identifying their goals and bringing their vision to reality but with a creative twist. Whether it’s a client or a team member, Sara influences positivity along the path of a project to ensure not only a successful outcome but also a collaborative and creative process.
