John Graham joined Sunbelt Holdings in 1982, became President in 1990, and assumed the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 2019. Key to John’s success is his background in asset management, development and real estate investments and his lifelong commitment to community organizations supporting greater Phoenix’s growth and development. Graham was named 2018 Man of the Year by Valley Leadership for his vision and service to the community. Prior to his leadership position with Sunbelt Holdings, John held positions at The Koll Company in asset management and development from 1980-1982 and Coldwell Banker in asset management from 1978-1980.
Over the past 40 years, John has become one of the most highly respected and honored advocates for community-building, economic development and education throughout the State of Arizona. Throughout his tenure and leadership with Sunbelt Holdings, he has steered the development of over 55,000 acres of land with an ardent focus on creating meaningful value to real estate opportunities across sectors, from land and residential to office and industrial. Today, Sunbelt Holdings is best known for being a ‘place maker’ and has been instrumental in the development of successful and sustainable large-scale master planned residential communities including Vistancia in Peoria, McDowell Mountain Ranch in Scottsdale, as well as urban living developments such as Portland on the Park in Downtown Phoenix. In 2013, Sunbelt entered the Tucson and Pima County market developing master plans for LaEstancia, Star Valley and Red Rock Village. In 2017, Sunbelt Holdings completed Marina Heights, the largest single-tenant office development in Arizona history, spanning 20-acres adjacent to Arizona State University in Tempe and serving as the regional hub of operations for State Farm Insurance. Each Sunbelt Holdings development has been thoughtfully planned to create an exceptional place for living, learning, working and interacting with the greater community.
John has been an advocate and supporter of local municipalities and to improving arts, social services and education. He has dedicated much of his career serving on Boards and Foundations including ASU Foundation, Greater Phoenix Leadership, Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Partnership for Economic Innovation, Phoenix Art Museum, Southern Arizona Leadership Council, Teach for America Phoenix, Rio Salado Foundation, Westmarc, Urban Land Institute and Valley of the Sun United Way. In addition, John and Sunbelt Holdings have been staunch supporters of the Fighter Country Foundation supporting Luke Air Force Base.
