Community Mourns Passing of Art Cunningham

ULI Arizona is very sorry to announce the death of a beloved member of the Arizona real estate community. Art Cunningham (Fountainhead Equity Partners) passed away in his favorite place, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Wednesday, August 15. Art was a kid at heart, despite his 60 years of life.

Art was a graduate of St. Gregory’s Catholic School, Brophy College Preparatory and Arizona State University. His career in real estate began in commercial leasing with Murdock Management Company, and shortly thereafter he joined Sunbelt Holdings as Vice President of Marketing and Leasing. Art was responsible for leasing Sunbelt’s first large commercial project, the Phoenix Gateway Center.

Art left Sunbelt in 1990 to form Young Warnick Cunningham & Co., and ultimately formed Fountainhead Equity Partners in 1996. Art’s projects included office, retail, and hotel properties, as well as residential lot development. Art’s generosity extended to numerous charitable organizations, including the Leukemia Society, Men’s Art Council, Phoenix Symphony, Fiesta Bowl Committee, Tumbleweed, Friends of Compass and the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

His warmth and humor made him a friend of anyone he met, and he was adored by his devoted circle of friends and family. He was truly everyone’s best friend and had a smile as wide as Arizona.

Services will be at the Brophy Chapel at 10:00am on Thursday, 8/23 with a reception to follow at Phoenix Country Club.
